The last six months haven't seen a blog post, or a podcast from me and for that, I apologise for my slackness. Its the old "life comes first" routine and life has been very busy. Work has presented a few new challenges, and maybe new opportunities as I come to terms with some changes that have occurred.
The one, constant joy that I have had over the past 6 months is preparing for our 20th Anniversary Concert, SGLC Goes Platinum. Those preparations have included revisiting old repertoire and learning new repertoire which I hadn't learnt previously.
The concert was basically a retrospective, 20 hits from our 20 years and the choice of music was selected by indivduals themselves who got to vote on which song should best represent each year since 1991 until 2011.
It was an honour and a joy to be part of this process, both as a singer and a choir Committee Member. Special thanks to our wonderful Music Director, and to two of our three previous Music Directors, Jonathon Welch AM, and Stephen Schafer who both conducted a song from the selection during the night. Our Music Director, Sarah Penicka-Smith has done an outstanding job as has the Production Commitee which knitted this wonderful collage together. 101 singers on stage (or therabouts) and about 30-40 more for the Encore.
The post concert party was fabulous as well, and special thanks to the Oxford Hotel, for hosting the occasion. Soe sore heads today (Sunday) but everyone left happy after a great day.
