The Cenotaph, in Martin Place, is the central point for remembrance services honouring Australia's defence personnel. There are small wreath laying ceremonies throughout the year, remembering those who fought and died in various battles of WW1, WW2 and later conflicts. The Annual ANZAC Day march through the city, officially begins here, as each marching contingent gives an "Eyes Right" as they pass the Cenotaph and then march up George Street, before disbursing in Bathurst Street for a day's remembrance, and a chance for a drink or two with old comrades.
