Huzzah! We made it to Friday. A very hectic week with a 14 hour workday on Tuesday, and a gradually increasing weariness for the rest of the week, which was balanced by a non stop workload. But, we made it. There'll still be stuff to do on Monday, but that can wait until Monday.
Last weekend I made a snap decision to give myself a short break this weekend, so tomorrow morning I'm off to the Blue Mountains, about 100 clicks west of Sydney (a two hour train ride, or about an hour and a half by car from the centre of the city. I'm taking the train. I've booked into a motel in Katoomba which is the major town in the mountains. My motel is a short walk away from the Three Sisters. More about them when I come back.
The plan is to do dump my bags about midday, do some sightseeing, some local bus touring, maybe a short walk, dinner at the local RSL Club (think Veterans Club, with poker machines, restaurant, bar, and possibly entertainment), an early night, and a bit more touring on the Sunday and then back to Sydney by train, and a bus home from the city. I'm really looking forward to this, even though it'll only be about a 36 hour break.
Sydney itself is gearing up for the annual Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade and Party tomorrow night. Vantage points will be at a premium, and I don't particularly want to march (this year) and my idea of a party is a little more subdued than the planned event, so whilst I don't begrudge them their fun, I'll be quite happy where I am tyvm (thank you very much).
No beer or wine in the house, so I'm gonna have another cup of tea, a couple of crackers (biscuits) and a good night's sleep.
Have a great weekend yourselves.
