OK, So I arrived fashionably late to the party (like about 2 years) but that's the joy of podcasting and audio books. You can timeshift. Just like the movies. And 7th Son is the sort of Saturday afternoon serial that was popular in the movies of my pre and early teens (back in the 50's and early 60's)(good grief Charlie Brown, the lad must be ancient).
Its plausible science fiction, and deals with issues that are still in the news and still contraversial today (think cloning, stem cell reasearch etc). I listened to the 1st Book, Descent, in about 2 weeks, and am half way through the second book (Deceit). The trouble is I'm a self censor type of listener, if its too scarey, freaky or unbelievable I stop breathing, and have to take deep breaths or turn the podcast off for 5 minutes before coming back. So book 2 may take a little longer. Then there's book 3, Destruction and Obsidian. On'ya you J.C. you're making my grind of a commute, a lot more interesting. Talk about the 12 days of Clonemas.
So Movember is just about finished. I've been growing a moustache for a month. Not that'd you'd know it. But the guys at work wanted to get involved, initially just for fun, but then we decided to join the fund raising side of things. Raising money for Men's Health Issues, including Prostrate Cancer, has got to be a worthwhile cause. Our team was Hog Riders. Don't ask, I'm still not sure why, but hey, I comply!
So I might stretch it through until just before Christmas. We'll see what happens.
I managed to get through my 58th unscathed at the end of last week. Kind wishes from choir, Facebook friends, local friends, and family made the passage a little easier. Has anything changed. Not really. The weekend was quiet, but fun. A few things going on over the next couple of days mean I'll be fairly busy in one way or another until the weekend, and on the weekend. But that's fine.
Hope those in North Queensland and LA are OK.
Its raining here so I'll possibly get a wet tail on the way to work tomorrow.
A fairly hectic social and work time over the past couple of weeks, and i think it'll get a little more hectic.
On Saturday 1 November I attended the annual Sydney Food and Wine Fair, with profits going to the AIDS Trust of Australia. A good chance to sip and sup. and stretch out on the grass of Sydney's Hyde Park, all the while knowing that you are eating, drinking and relaxing for a very good cause. The food was good, the wine was good, and the day was fine.
Yesterday from 9am until about 2.30 I was in the Trackdown Recording Studios at Fox Studios in Centennial Park, Sydney, where the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir, were putting down the final few songs of our forthcoming, as yet unnamed CD. It was a big day, and hopefully the results will show that the effort was worth while. Kudos to our MD, who knows who she is, and is somewhat shy (yeah, right), and the CD production team. Thanks folks.
Last night was a 40th birthday party for a family member. The theme was an M Night I went along as a monk. Lots of Marilyns, Morticias, Mandelas, Mahatmas, Muskateers, Mousekateers etc. This afternoon I've got a bit of paperwork to plow through and if time permits will do a podcast tonight.
Work isn't too bad.
Next Friday is a footy reunion (football, not feet) for the guys I used to manage in our suburban rugby club competition back in the 70's, and some of whom i went to school with. That's always a good night. Saturday night is Dance, a concert by Door In The Wall. They are a group of friends who have a singing bent, led by a chirpy and talented young lady who is a bundle of energy and an absolute delight. That'll be good as well.
The Barak Obama victory was fantastic, and has to be a great thing for his country. I pray for his safety and that of his family.
