A Spring Sip

October is "Good Food Month" in Sydney, NSW, Australia with all sorts of food and wine festivals on offer. The biggie is the Sydey Food & Wine Fair, traditionally held on the last Saturday of the month in Hyde Park North in the centre of the city.   Restaurateurs and winemakers donate their goods and patrons buy blocks of tickets to sample the goods. Proceeds go to the Aids Trust of Australia, so its a good chance to combine charity with having a good time, which is what all charity should be about. A block of 4 tickets cost $10 (Australian), and for 4 tickets you get a meal, an additional 2 tickets can buy you a drink, and one ticket will get you a dessert or a coffee so it was a very enjoyable afternoon.

Had a good feed, a couple of drinks, a dessert and a coffee and managed to give some money to a very worthy charity.

One hour less sleep last night due to the start of daylight savings this morning and that's on for about the next six months. It usually takes a day or two to get the circadians synchronised but at least the sun won't wake us up at 4am as it has been for the last month or so.

Very humid today.

Hope you all have a great week.

Choral Connection

A beautiful Sunday morning, and I've been awake since before 5am (now 6.30am). We've got daylight saving commencing next weekend (I think) so we're at that stage where the sun rises very early. I'm out the door shortly because we've got choir practice at Sydney Philharmonia rehearsal space. Mine is an admin function today; mark the rolls, collect the rehearsal money, make sure there's coffee, tea etc and hopefully have a quiet day, reading the Sunday papers etc, once they start.

The bus trip in usually takes about 45 minutes at this time of the day, but today there's a Spring Cycle, which starts at North Sydney, the riders cross the Harbour Bridge, and then leisurely cycle their way out to Olympic Park at Homebush. Maybe next year if I'm a little thinner, a lot fitter, and comfortable on the new bike. Hopefully, thats the plan.

Nothing much else happening here at the moment.

Ciao.

A Great Weekend

Well the weekend is drawing to a close. Its 5.35pm on a clear, fine, Sunday afternoon. The weather today, and yesterday has been fantastic (mid 20's C, high 70's F. Yesterday I hired a ute (utility, small truck) and drove across to Lane Cove to pickup my brand new Trek 7200 bicycle. Its just a little too far to ride home, hence hiring the vehicle, but the bike shop, Renegade Cycles is one of (if not) the best in Sydney. That done, I scooted back to Manly Vale to pick up a home shredder (one way to get rid of the clutter), and a small bookcase (a way to store the ever increasing lever arch folders), and finally a trip to the tip to get rid of some associated clutter. I don't own a vehicle at the moment so usually hire something about once every two or three months, but I think I've told you that before.

Last night it was hop on the bus and go into Sydney for a couple (well three) beers, then a feed, back home and just potter.

This morning I slept in, then as I was about to head off to the bus to go into town, realised the ute was waiting to be returned to its rightful owners, Avis so that was done. Managed to spill petrol all over my jeans just before I delivered the truck. Stupid rule about making sure the tank is full when you return same. Just as well I don't smoke.

Ah domesticity!
