It's just I like to have things to do. Even when I'm on a break, I need to have a plan, or a newspaper, book, something to watch. Something to do!
Saturday afternoon, knowing I was on two weeks break from today, I went in to work to try to clear things up, or at least lower the in tray. I got a lot done and left at 5pm, to travel out to Marrickville for a choir performance at the Marrickville Town Hall. It was cabaret style, tables of 8 or 10, and the program had the interesting title of Salon Kinky. It was a truly amazing and wonderful night. Choir sang everything from Bernstein, to Nelson Eddy (Stout Hearted Men), to Tom Lehrer (Masochism Tango), through a whole range of songs all "niched" to the theme of the evening. I think I was grinning all night. I'd heard them practice for a couple of months, wasn't performing in this one, and went along knowing they'd do a great job, but wondering how they'd pull it off. They were magnificent and full credit to Gothgirl, her able stage manager Melancholia, the production team, back and front of house and the choir themselves all performed creditably. I was sitting adjacent to a table of rather vocal, rather tipsy, former choir sopranos, who have a reputation for being no nonsense when it comes to performance, and these girls thought the show was wonderful. Congratulations team. Well done!
Yesterday I went into work again, and stayed much, much longer than I should have, but left knowing that I'd done as much as I could, and would have a reasonably clear conscience over the next two weeks. In the early hours of this morning as my head was hitting the pillow, I remembered one more thing. So went to a local office, did what needed to be done, and left. So I'm as free as a bird for two weeks.
Some housecleaning over the next couple of days, chiro tomorrow, choir again on Thursday and maybe a diversion on the weekend. Things maybe aren't as bad as they occasionally seem.
Its my younger brother's birthday today. Happy Birthday mate.
