It's almost 8am on New Years Eve. The cicadas are raucous outside. They seem to make their noises in a pulsing manner, a dull din, getting louder, backing off, then the process repeats. Daylight saving, so its still not too bright yet, but hopefully as the sun rises and if the clouds clear it'll be a great day.
Christmas Day was a treat. Spent it with friends. Lots of conversation, kids, food a few drinks and general bonhommie.
A very short working week (only had to work Thursday and Friday, public servants (Govt workers get an additional holiday after Boxing Day to compensate for Bank Holidays throughout the year). That meant things were fairly quiet. Lots of people off so not too much kerfuffle to worry about.
The Paris Hilton circus has hit town for a couple of days and the newspapers and TV news are absolutely beside themselves with adulatory salivation. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.
The weather is somewhat bizarre. There was a sudden storm on Friday afternoon, and I got drenched running from bus stop to home (only about 3 minutes). It abated as quickly as it appeared. Yesterday was cloudy and threatening, and I think today will be more of the same. There are actually showers etc forecast for the next five or six days, so the revellers watching the fireworks tonight might be a little damp. Not my scene, I'm a bit crowd phobic, so I'll probably spend the night in. Will stock the fridge, have a couple of beers etc, and see what occurs.
Wishing each and everyone of you peace and prosperity over the next twelve months. Take care of yourselves, play nicely with others and I hope you all have a wonderful year.
