..... is an expression that is all too common in the world of theatre and music. Its a nice way of saying "thanks for turning up and having a go, but you're not what we had in mind". Without going into too much detail I didn't get the combo Team Leader/Supervisor's job I'd been doing for the past three months. This now means that I don't have to sweat when "x" calls in sick, "y" chooses to resign at short notice, and "z" can't understand why they aren't given a secondment to enhance their career. Its a combination of politic, economics and bureaucracy and quite frankly I'm happy just taking my calls and letting someone else develop the ulcers.
This of course also means I don't have to feel guilty when I'm putting in my application for vacation (leave), naturally after the rest of the team have taken theirs.
On an altogether different tack, the TV weather guru announced tonight we'd had our dryest autumn since 1965. We desperately need a really good, long, extended period of soaking rain. If this blog harps on that in the foreseeable future, thats the way it is down under at the moment. Dry, with gradually tightening water restrictions.
Kettle's boiled. Tea time.
