That's what I should have said. MRU to come to Clovelly Beach for The Entertainer's 40th birthday party. It would have been a delightful way to spend a Sunday afternoon but I just didn't have the energy to do it.
Spent most of yesterday mooching around town. A little time at SAG doing some research, then trotted up to Oxford Street for a peek at Shop Yourself Stupid. Didn't feel in the mood to buy anything, so spent some time in an Internet cafe then just sat in Hyde Park reading in the late afternoon sunshine.
Last night I trained out to Petersham, which is about a 20 minute journey to the MCC Church for a concert featuring the Homotones and the Australian Pop Choir. Saw lots of choir folk there to support both organisations which was nice. A great concert. Contemporary music and the delightful JW has the APC (sounds like a powder doesn't it) sounding very very good. The Homotones (a big band/dance band type group were also excellent. The show ran from 7pm until just after 9 but it was about 9.45 before I was able to get a train back into the city to connect with a bus home. The bus was running unfashionably late so I didn't get in until just before midnight. Train and bus trip were made easier by bumping into friends. D who was in the Homotones and then S waiting for the bus.
Today I should have been off to Clovelly beach, with hat, sunscreen, and maybe even swimmers but I still felt really tired and washed out and decided that I wouldn't really be enjoyable company so decided not to go. Took some laundry into town and bumped into the delightful Julie who's training hard for a walking tour in Tasmania's Cradle Mountain National Park, which she leaves for in about 6 weeks. She's been doing the reverse route of the City-Surf fun run route, which is about 14 k, and she plans to do that each weekend for the next 4 weeks, supplemented by lots of walking and hillclimbs in the periods between weekends. I felt guilty feeling so tired.
Mooched around at home this afternoon, checking out the blogroll etc etc.
Tomorrow, and for the next two days after that, I'm working 3-11 but no sleeping in Monday morning as I've got a 9.30 specialist optician checkup. I picked up new specs about July last year and they found evidence of retinal tearing. Had a couple of specialist appointments and they told me to come back in 6 months, which is tomorrow. Hopefully they'll say, "well its there, we know about it, it doesn't seem to be doing any real damage. We'll just keep an eye on it." I've worn specs for the last 51 years (turned eye) and my vision doesn't seem to have dramatically suffered or changed in the last 6 months. I'll be happy if it maintains its current levels.
Ergo, no blogging tomorrow. Hopefully the effects of the drops for diluting (dilating?) the pupils will have worn off by then. Otherwise it'll be a very interesting few hours trying to read a green text, black screen computer. I'll probably be wearing sunnies for most of the day anyway.
