Its Halloween, 31 Oct 03. Its not huge over here, but we are aware of the significance and traditions of All Hallows Eve. It is a dark and stormy night outside, and one unfortunate person was killed earlier this afternoon when a tree fell on their car (whilst they were driving) in Cremorne, in Sydney's northern suburbs.
A fairly busy weekend coming up. SAG volunteer librarian tomorrow from 10.30am until 4.00pm and then I waddle off to the State Theatre for a choir sound check at 4.30, before the Bent Magazine launch which is due to kick off at about 8pm. Bent is a glossy magazine, and has been a choir sponsor for a few months. We hope to continue the partnership so we're pleased as a choir to perform tomorrow night. We'll get to also hear the amazing talent of Mr Paul Capsis, an incredibly gifted cabaret performer and movie star in his own right. Paul has a two night season at the Sydney Opera House on Nov 14/15 so I might shout myself as a birthday present.
Maybe a drink or three after the show (or at least after we've sung) and then on Sunday afternoon I'm going to help a friend download some JPG images to CD. My first geek consultancy. Whacko. All I seek in remuneration will be a decent cup of coffee.
With luck I'll avoid the Phantom of the Bus Interchange this weekend. After last weeend's effort I was trying to think what I'd done to engender such hostility and then I remembered. About a month or two ago, I was in the city, at the front of the queue, waiting for the bus (queue forms to the right) and this woman eased up to my left. I was incredibly polite and said something along the line of "Queue forms to the right Madam" and she let out an absolute stream of invective. I just ignored her, got on the bus, repressed it, and forgot about it. Then last Saturday night coming home from Johno and Matt's commitment she was on the bus, I'd forgotten all about her, and didn't have a clue who she was, but she turned to me and said "If you get off at this stop I'll kill you". Then I saw her again the next day. How scarey was that. And Halloween was still a week away. (Liprolls Twilight Zone theme).
